The passage shows the rejection of Jesus by his Hometown Nazareth. Rather than attributing Jesus’s works to God, they chose to remain perplexed by his earthly credentials, thus taking offense. Are we offended by the Gospel? Or are we moved to true faith in Christ?

Scribes were learned men of Jewish law. Not only do the Spirit-appointed teachers and preachers bring out knowledge and wisdom from the whole bible, but we, laymen, too are called to be disciples filled with understanding of all of Christ’s words.

This week we learned how the Kingdom of Heaven is like a net. Connecting back to previous parables and forward to Apostle Paul’s letters, we saw how far and wide the Kingdom’s reach will be, bringing along even bad fish. Yet on that day, Christ will purge all causes of sin and will reign victorious.

Jesus’s Kingdom parables have been reserved for his saints, obscuring them from the unbelieving world. Do we wonder at the vast glory of the Kingdom? We dive deeper into this mystery with the help of Psalms 78 as we continue this expository journey.
