1 John 5:13-15 tells us that we can be confident about our eternal heritage in Christ when we experience answers to prayers. Even to such an extent that when we pray, we can know that we already have what we have asked for, if we pray according to His will.

The free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus for all who believe. This gift of God is realized in the life of a Christian through belief in the finished work of Jesus and the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit by which he/she resists sin and embraces righteousness, which are the fruits of sanctification.
