Paul did not count his life as worth anything but only that he may run the good race and fight the good fight for the glory of God. He encourages us to follow his example

We serve a Creator God who is in need of nothing from us, in that He is not dependent on us in any way. But we who are His creation depend on Him for life, breath and everything.

Psalm 46 teaches us to be still amidst great trouble by praying and trusting in God’s ability to save. Prayer and knowledge of God, which comes from meditating His word, are the efforts that lead to the outcome of peace and stillness in all circumstances.
